As of 1st January 2015, Ladbrokes bookmaker will no longer accept traffic from Russia following recent changes in European and UK online gambling legislation. Ladbrokes statement follows the recent news that the Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a bill to impose heavier penalties on illegal gambling companies in the country.
Focusing on Europe’s regulated markets, Ladbrokes has also decided to cease their operations in other European grey markets: Finland, Portugal and Romania. In 2014, Ladbrokes withdrew from many European markets including Hungary, Norway and Switzerland, and three years earlier stopped accepting bets from the residents of Poland as well. In total, Ladbrokes list of excluded countries has now 68 separate jurisdictions.
