Bet365 donates millions to charity

Bet365 has donated £105m, which accounts for nearly a 1/3 of its 2013 profits, to a foundation it established to fund charity projects not only in the UK, but also internationally. These donations make it the biggest charity donation made by a gambling company.

The bet365 foundation was set up in August 2012 and donated funds to 20 UK-based charities over the course of the past year, including Oxfam and the Douglas Macmillan Hospice for cancer sufferers in Stoke.

It has also donated funds to charities involved in HIV/AIDS treatment in sub-Saharan Africa and providing emergency relief in the Philippines in the devastating aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.

“The bet365 foundation was set up to help make a positive difference in the lives of others,” said the operator’s co-CEO Denise Coates, who is a trustee of the foundation alongside her father Peter and brother John Coates. “This year we’ve had the honour of supporting 20 charities to deliver much needed assistance around the world and look forward to helping many more in the years to come.”
